Fun 1950s Themed Outings Including Eating Candy From the 50s!

If you grew up in the 1950s, chances are the world seemed a whole lot more innocent than it does today. Yet, with Elvis’s rocking hips and those swirling poodle skirts, you can bet kids who grew up in the 50s still had a ton of fun and great memories. If someone special in your life who grew up in the 50s is celebrating a birthday or an important milestone, we’ve got some 1950s themed outing ideas to add a dash of fun – such as eating Candy From the 50s like Pixy Stix and Candy Necklaces! Here’s our ideas, and feel free to share your own on our Facebook page at Facebook.com/BlairCandyCompany or our Twitter at Twitter.com/BlairCandy.

#1: Ice Cream Parlor Night

Remember asking a guy or girl on a date to the ice cream parlor or the malt shake? Recreate this popular 1950s outing by setting up an ice cream bar with various types of ice creams and sodas for ice cream floats, along with Candy From the 50s, like M&Ms Candy Peanuts, to top off your ice cream creations! Complete your ice cream and milkshakes with a white and red swirly straw.

#2: Drive-In Movie

The drive-in was one of the most popular outings in the 50s, and there are still some drive-in movie theaters around. Locate one in your general area, and take your 1950s gal or guy out to the drive-in! Be sure to bring candy from the 50s with you to the movie, such as Dum Dum Lollipops and Hot Tamales.

#3: Community Dance

Group dancing wasn’t exactly the “clubbing” that we know it as today – in the 50s, guys and girls actually got dressed up and went dancing together. Community dances still exist today, but much like drive-in movie theaters, you need to look for them. It’ll relive some great memories for your special someone from the 1950s, especially if you bring candy from the 50s with you, such as Atomic Fire Balls!

#4: Pick-Up Baseball Game

Ball games were a much-loved pastime during the 1950s, especially getting together with friends to play a spur-of-the-moment ball game. You’ll probably have to plan that “pick-up” baseball game, but it’s a fun way to get the gang from the 50s all back together for a great game of baseball. Just make sure you have some candy from the 50s like Rootbeer Barrels on hand!
