Peppermint Hot Cocoa, from Michael Chiarello’s Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello
Hot cocoa is a heart-warming treat during the daylight hours, and at night when it’s just the adults? Cocoalicious.
Makes 6 servings
1 quart milk
6 ounces bittersweet or semisweet chocolate
9 ounces of peppermint schnapps
6 peppermint candy canes
Heat one cup of milk in a pan over low heat, and add the chocolate, while stirring continually. Once the chocolate has melted, turn the heat up to medium and add the rest of the milk while stirring rapidly. Don’t allow the mixture to boil.
Serve the hot cocoa in small cups with one and a half ounces of peppermint schnapps in each, and a dollop of whipped cream on top. Stick a peppermint candy cane in each as garnish. Yum!
