How The Reester Bunny Came To Be

We love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, so it’s only natural that we would absolutely love their Easter chocolate counterpart – the elusive Reester Bunny. The Reester Bunny is packed with that signature Reese’s peanut butter that makes our mouths water, with its chocolate exterior in the shape of the Easter Bunny, wrapped in colorful Easter Bunny packaging. If you’ve ever wondered just how the Reester Bunny came to be, then you’re in luck – grab some Easter chocolate and read on!

It was a chilly December day when the Easter Bunny surprised us by hopping into our offices, a little sore from all the attention Santa was receiving. We weren’t expecting him until mid January, and to be honest, Easter just wasn’t on our minds, nor on our candy warehouse shelves! He took one look around, made that “tsk tsk” sound with his front teeth, wiggled his bunny whiskers, and promptly hopped out. We knew he had something up his bunny tail by that gleam in his eye!

Extra, extra! It was just a few days later when we read the newspaper headlines – a person in an Easter Bunny costume broke into The Hershey Company and demanded that the company produce a Reese’s Easter Bunny chocolate! We knew well enough to know that it wasn’t just “some person” – instead, we knew it had to be the Easter Bunny, making an Easter chocolate in his liking. Take that, Santa!

We didn’t have to wait long for our results to be confirmed. The Easter Bunny arrived promptly at our Altoona warehouse a few weeks later, armed with several boxes of what he called the “Reester Bunny.” He said they’d be a huge hit, and after taste-testing one (okay, many) we knew that sneaky bunny was on to something. We decided to put it on our candy shelves, and lo and behold, the Reester Bunny is one of our customer favorite candy varieties.

We’ll leave it up to you and your chocolate craving mind to decide whether that story is fact or fiction, but one thing we can all agree is fact is how delicious the Reeser Bunny is! We can’t get enough of them ourselves, and we’re happy to report to the Easter Bunny that they go quickly hopping off of our shelves each Easter season.
